Lime Connect Wins the MaRS and CIBC Inclusive Design Challenge: Access to Work grand prize
“Lime Connect shows employees and companies how disability can lead to success” the headline reads as MaRS and CIBC announce publicly on October 27th that our team has won! It is an exciting time and we have so much in store to offer more to our Network members.
As explained to MaRS and CIBC by Susan Lang, our founding president, and CEO, “We basically are a matchmaker.” It can be difficult for people with disabilities to find work or move up in their professional fields and many people with disabilities worry that disclosing their disability will decrease their chances of being hired or promoted. “We know we’re really just dipping our toe in the water,” says Susan Lang, adding there are many more people with disabilities for us to reach. “Many people who join Lime describe it as life-changing. They tell us it’s the first time they feel they belong. This award will help us scale what we’re doing, build that community and reach more people.”
With the $50,000 we will receive as the grand prize winner of the challenge, we plan to build a new online hub to help members communicate, participate in training and learn about new career opportunities. Our founding CEO, Susan Lang describes it as “LinkedIn on steroids.”
